This week is our high school prom. Most people are extremely excited, stressed, or nervous. I however, feel pretty indifferent. I have all of my stuff like my dress, shoes, nails, hair, and make-up all figured out so perhaps that's why I am not stressed.
I am a junior though so we do all of the decorating. There is this kid in my class that has pretty much taken over. Therefore, the rest of us could really care less. We only do what our sponsors tell us to and hopefully none of us get too mad tonight because we are going to be here for awhile.
Our theme is A Whole New World but we're decorating with an Aladdin theme. So far it seems okay but I am worried about how some things will work out.

April 24, 2013: Fishing with Grandpa
When I was little, I did not live here. I lived roughly two hours away in an entirely different state. All of my relatives lived here in this area though so every time we would venture this way we would try to visit with everyone. I can remember coming back and staying one night here, another there, just to please all of the family. One of the things most special to me, though, was when my grandpa would take me fishing. We would go to this pond, sit on the side, and fish. It was simple enough but we had a lot of fun catching fish and laughing at each other. Every once in awhile, we would see this guy pedaling by on his bicycle. We only saw him only few times but it was interesting every time. He looked as though he was working so hard to keep going. I think it was his exercise because he wasn't old but he didn't appear young either. Anyways, every day we saw him we'd turn, wave, and then get back to our fishing. Some days we caught a lot while others we weren't as focused or lucky. Looking back now I really miss those days; there were simpler times back then.
April 23, 2013: Late Entry
This entry is late as one can tell because of the dates listed and marked. It is late because yesterday I was not in class to do the blog. Yesterday we had a softball game this hour so we weren't in class. Needless to say, it was great because I didn't have to go to my least favorite hour. No, it is not this hour, but it is, in fact, the hour after this one.
Also, I have bee taking my time with blogs on Tuesdays and Thursdays because those are freewrite days. I strongly dislike freewrites because it takes forever to to think of a topic and it seems like it makes the hour pass so much slower.

April 22, 2013: Finally Seniors!
Our seniors from the 2013 school year just passed down the keys. This is quite exciting because it technically means we are seniors. They are as good as graduated! We now get to start working the concessions, despite there only being a few games left. I am all too happy because I have been waiting for awhile to finally be a senior.
Seniors leave May 3rd, never to return again and I couldn't be happier. We will begin selling this summer to pay for our senior trip which will hopefully be somewhere exotic. We are one of the few or only schools that receive such a glamorous senior trip.

April 19, 2013: Opportunity
When opportunity strikes, snatch it up. That is often told to many of us. It is meant to insinuate that opportunity is good and one should be open to new opportunities. Opportunity is when someone is presented with a new option. They are typically looked at as god but often come with one or many tough decisions.
Another common phrase is "when one door closes, another opens." While there are many variations of this phrase, this is the one most familiar to me. It also refers to opportunity. My understanding of it is that despite something ending or not turning out as expected, something good will come and a new opportunity will appear.

April 18, 2013: Blah!
If you stop to look at this entry the title says everything. This is what I want to call a "blah" post. It is a freewrite day which I absolutely despise. They are more difficult and slow and not near as fun. My favorite day is Wednesday when we write a narrative incorporating two ormore things assigned by our teacher.
The whole day seems to be blah-ish if you ask me. The wind is blowing like crazy therefore, every time I walk outside my hair gets messed up if I don't pull it into a ponytail. Also, I overslept this morning which just sets the day off to a bad start.
SO that is my blah post, quite unorganized and just done to give me points for the day.

April 17, 2013: A Spooky Adventure
On a dark, clear night, in the middle of a thick, luminous forest sat an old house all alone. The house itself stood tall, at least two stories, maybe three, but the top seemed to get lost in the trees. It was strategically placed in the only clearing in the forest but covered the entire open area so that if someone walked out of the trees they were immadiately faced with the house. With vines growing all around and the way it creaked even when the wind gently blew, gave away its true age. Inside the house resembled much of the outside, a thick layer of dust covered everything in the house. A brave soul ventured into the forest late one night and stumbled upon this house. He was not intimidated by the creepiness that seemed to surround thse house so he walked inside. As he wandered through the house, he stumbled into the kitchen and was surprised to find a working refrigerator. It was the only thing in the house that even remotely resembled modern technology and it barely did, being the oldest working refrigerator the boy had ever seen. He walked over to open it up and found it full of fresh, pretty carrots. They were nicely stacked on top of one another. Because he thought he was alone and perhaps somewhat to do with his nosy stomach, he grabbed one from the top shelf. Thunder boomed and lightning struck, it was as if the world had just come alive. Before him appeared a massive ghost. The ghost could not believe the boy had stolen his carrot. The boy was so startled by the entire thing that he ropped the carrot and ran out of the house, never to return again.
April 16, 2013: Softball Game
Yesterday was our last regular season game. We are not quite finished yet because next week we do have to play in the conference tournamnet but that doesn't shadow the saddness of a last regular game. It especially hits home for those who are seniors and will be finished laying after next week.
The game in itself was good overall. We won 7-2 because we hit pretty well and did a good job running bases. I finally hit a homerun which I was proud of despite the fact that it probably shouldn't have been one. The ball went far but I still would think it was only a double or triple. It was towards the end of the game and was my first of the season.

April 12, 2013: Caramel
Caramel, as random as it is, is a good topic. It appeals to my sweet tooth because who doesn't love some good caramel. It could be added to ice cream or brownies or even in the center of a candy bar. Regardless of its placement it is delicious. Caramel is smooth and sweet and adds great flavor to most things.
Recently I have learned another purpose for the word caramel. One of my friends told me about it and at first I was slightly shocked. She said it was her mother's name and before we could ask how or why she said she didn't know.
While caramel is delicious as an addition to just about anything, the word can serve other purposes.

April 11, 2013: No Game
I woke up this morning assuming we would have a game today, despite the storms. Maybe I only hoped for the game not to be cancelled because I knew it had rained a great deal last night. We were just told at lunch, however, that there would be no game. This is slightly disappointing because I was so looking forward to it. After all, softball is my favorite sport and due to past weather conditions we haven't played many games.
However, we were not fortunate enough to have one. I suppose I could blame it on these crazy storms we've been experiencing here lately. I don't even understand why we are having such crazy storms that makes the weather all messed up.

April 10, 2013: Random Events
One day Tommy decided to work on his roof. It needed some repairs because, as he had recently discovered, it leaked. So on this sunny day he goes to his garage and pulls out his ladder and a hammer. He walks around to the front of his house, places his ladder, and climbs up it. Once at the top, he realizes he needs some nails so he goes back down to find some. Tommy finds his nails and returns to the top of the house. He begins work trying to fix the leaks. After some time, he wants a break so as he is walking back towards the ladder, he spots this random dog. It was a pretty dog, large in stature. Before Tommy makes it back to his ladder the dog comes bolting at it and knocks it clear to the ground. Despite the loud thud no one comes to Tommy's rescue. He stays up on the roof fixing the leaks. Once he has finished, there still has not been someone come to aid him. Tommy desperately waits for awhile but becomes bored. He ventures over to the edge of the roof to check out his gutters. He looks down and to his surprise, finds a comb laying in the gutter. He pulls it out but does not recognize it. He has no idea where it came from. Sitting there on the roof, he can't help but think about the random events that had occurred that day.

April 9, 2013: Sleep
One may wonder why I am writing a post about sleep. I am because I haven't gotten much sleep the past few nights what with my late nights and the days being so long. I write about sleep because that is what I would much rather be doing right now.
Sleep is important for all human beings. We cannot go without it because it rests our bodies and prepares us for the next day. Sleep makes everyone feel better and often one can tell when someone is sleep deprived. They are usually cranky and unpleasant to be around. I am not quite there yet but my eyelids feel heavy, especially after I have been up for awhile. I could easily fall asleep right here in class but I won't.

April 8, 2013: Beginning & End
The beginning of anything is always the start. The beginning can also be referred to as the exposition. When referring to literature it's when the story begins to tell what happens. It is usually when the characters and setting are developed. Often in Shakespeare, the beginning is when the reader gets to know the people and is usually the first act.
However the end is when everything is finished. It can also be called denouement. At the end of a story or really any literature, it is when all the problems have been solved and the reader knows what happened to the main character.
These are also two things that go hand-in-hand and cannot happen without the other because what begins must end. hey simply follow each other.

April 4, 2013: Lockers
Today is one of those days where I don't feel like thinking so my blog is going to be about lockers mainly because when I look out the door that's all I see.
They line the hallways all the way up and down. They are plain and ugly with their neutral tan color. Some work and some don't. Sometimes students must fight with them to get them to open. Inside is rather interesting looking. The empty ones are lucky because they are not crammed shut and junky. Most of the used ones are so full upon opening them papers fall to the floor. Some lockers are used specifically for junk. Those are the ones full of soda cans, water bottles, juice cups, and gum wrappers. The younger kids in junior high are often slamming them and being nosy with the lockers because they think it makes them cool.

April 3, 2013: Her First Kill
It was a fairly cool, fall day in a magical land where objects and animals all spoke like humans. The objects could move by their own will and proceed to do anything they wanted. They could establish their own buildings, of course they were toys as well. Therefore, Barbie lived in her big dream house with Ken but instead of living on a beach in Paradise Island, they lived in the middle of a wondrous forest.
Despite the cool weather, the Ken wanted to teach Barbie to hunt. It was something he liked a lot and thought it would be fun to teach her so they dressed in their camo pants and long sleeves and stepped out into their yard. Merely thirty feet away was an opening to the forest. Ken of course didn't want to take her immediately into the forest so they stood in their yard and he showed her how to shoot. It wasn't too hard to teach her this much, especially with his guidance. During a break, a burly beast stepped out of the forest ever so slightly into the clearing. Ken moved smoothly but quickly to the gun, armed himself, and prepared to shoot when up from behind came Barbie, already armed, and beat Ken to the kill. He was shocked but extremely happy for he had taught her how. It was her first kill, but surely not her last.

April 2, 2013: Sleet in APRIL
It is now April and we are still experiencing strange weather. In fact, we were supposed to have a softball game today. However, I am fairly certain that it will be cancelled because of the weather. Softball season means that it is supposed to be warm and pretty. Sometimes there is rain during the spring but never sleet. Winter weather is not welcome during the spring. I am so unhappy because I was looking forward to our game today but let's get back to the sleet.
We were sitting in class when all of a sudden we could tell that something was happening outside. A few kids got up to look out the window and stated that it was sleeting. It is rather unfortunate especially because it is APRIL. I cannot get over all of this bad weather.

April 1, 2013: Day vs. Night
For day and night to be so closely related they are totally different. One cannot be without the other because they follow each other through a continuous cycle. They are like two parts of a whole, salt and pepper, or two sides of the same coin. You get the idea. Anyways the point is they coexist and we have to have both to make up our 24-hour days.
Despite the close relationship of day and night, they are still quite different. Day is bright and lit with sunlight while night is dark. I would mention weather but that shifts depending on season and location as does the length of each. Daytime seems happier and positive while nighttime is creepy and ominous. At least that's how I feel most people, including myself, view them.
It seems with day and night that both must be present in order to have the other. It would be hard to imagine one without the other following for at least some period of time.
