This week is our high school prom. Most people are extremely excited, stressed, or nervous. I however, feel pretty indifferent. I have all of my stuff like my dress, shoes, nails, hair, and make-up all figured out so perhaps that's why I am not stressed.
I am a junior though so we do all of the decorating. There is this kid in my class that has pretty much taken over. Therefore, the rest of us could really care less. We only do what our sponsors tell us to and hopefully none of us get too mad tonight because we are going to be here for awhile.
Our theme is A Whole New World but we're decorating with an Aladdin theme. So far it seems okay but I am worried about how some things will work out.

April 24, 2013: Fishing with Grandpa
When I was little, I did not live here. I lived roughly two hours away in an entirely different state. All of my relatives lived here in this area though so every time we would venture this way we would try to visit with everyone. I can remember coming back and staying one night here, another there, just to please all of the family. One of the things most special to me, though, was when my grandpa would take me fishing. We would go to this pond, sit on the side, and fish. It was simple enough but we had a lot of fun catching fish and laughing at each other. Every once in awhile, we would see this guy pedaling by on his bicycle. We only saw him only few times but it was interesting every time. He looked as though he was working so hard to keep going. I think it was his exercise because he wasn't old but he didn't appear young either. Anyways, every day we saw him we'd turn, wave, and then get back to our fishing. Some days we caught a lot while others we weren't as focused or lucky. Looking back now I really miss those days; there were simpler times back then.
April 23, 2013: Late Entry
This entry is late as one can tell because of the dates listed and marked. It is late because yesterday I was not in class to do the blog. Yesterday we had a softball game this hour so we weren't in class. Needless to say, it was great because I didn't have to go to my least favorite hour. No, it is not this hour, but it is, in fact, the hour after this one.
Also, I have bee taking my time with blogs on Tuesdays and Thursdays because those are freewrite days. I strongly dislike freewrites because it takes forever to to think of a topic and it seems like it makes the hour pass so much slower.

April 22, 2013: Finally Seniors!
Our seniors from the 2013 school year just passed down the keys. This is quite exciting because it technically means we are seniors. They are as good as graduated! We now get to start working the concessions, despite there only being a few games left. I am all too happy because I have been waiting for awhile to finally be a senior.
Seniors leave May 3rd, never to return again and I couldn't be happier. We will begin selling this summer to pay for our senior trip which will hopefully be somewhere exotic. We are one of the few or only schools that receive such a glamorous senior trip.

April 19, 2013: Opportunity
When opportunity strikes, snatch it up. That is often told to many of us. It is meant to insinuate that opportunity is good and one should be open to new opportunities. Opportunity is when someone is presented with a new option. They are typically looked at as god but often come with one or many tough decisions.
Another common phrase is "when one door closes, another opens." While there are many variations of this phrase, this is the one most familiar to me. It also refers to opportunity. My understanding of it is that despite something ending or not turning out as expected, something good will come and a new opportunity will appear.

April 18, 2013: Blah!
If you stop to look at this entry the title says everything. This is what I want to call a "blah" post. It is a freewrite day which I absolutely despise. They are more difficult and slow and not near as fun. My favorite day is Wednesday when we write a narrative incorporating two ormore things assigned by our teacher.
The whole day seems to be blah-ish if you ask me. The wind is blowing like crazy therefore, every time I walk outside my hair gets messed up if I don't pull it into a ponytail. Also, I overslept this morning which just sets the day off to a bad start.
SO that is my blah post, quite unorganized and just done to give me points for the day.

April 17, 2013: A Spooky Adventure
On a dark, clear night, in the middle of a thick, luminous forest sat an old house all alone. The house itself stood tall, at least two stories, maybe three, but the top seemed to get lost in the trees. It was strategically placed in the only clearing in the forest but covered the entire open area so that if someone walked out of the trees they were immadiately faced with the house. With vines growing all around and the way it creaked even when the wind gently blew, gave away its true age. Inside the house resembled much of the outside, a thick layer of dust covered everything in the house. A brave soul ventured into the forest late one night and stumbled upon this house. He was not intimidated by the creepiness that seemed to surround thse house so he walked inside. As he wandered through the house, he stumbled into the kitchen and was surprised to find a working refrigerator. It was the only thing in the house that even remotely resembled modern technology and it barely did, being the oldest working refrigerator the boy had ever seen. He walked over to open it up and found it full of fresh, pretty carrots. They were nicely stacked on top of one another. Because he thought he was alone and perhaps somewhat to do with his nosy stomach, he grabbed one from the top shelf. Thunder boomed and lightning struck, it was as if the world had just come alive. Before him appeared a massive ghost. The ghost could not believe the boy had stolen his carrot. The boy was so startled by the entire thing that he ropped the carrot and ran out of the house, never to return again.
April 16, 2013: Softball Game
Yesterday was our last regular season game. We are not quite finished yet because next week we do have to play in the conference tournamnet but that doesn't shadow the saddness of a last regular game. It especially hits home for those who are seniors and will be finished laying after next week.
The game in itself was good overall. We won 7-2 because we hit pretty well and did a good job running bases. I finally hit a homerun which I was proud of despite the fact that it probably shouldn't have been one. The ball went far but I still would think it was only a double or triple. It was towards the end of the game and was my first of the season.

April 12, 2013: Caramel
Caramel, as random as it is, is a good topic. It appeals to my sweet tooth because who doesn't love some good caramel. It could be added to ice cream or brownies or even in the center of a candy bar. Regardless of its placement it is delicious. Caramel is smooth and sweet and adds great flavor to most things.
Recently I have learned another purpose for the word caramel. One of my friends told me about it and at first I was slightly shocked. She said it was her mother's name and before we could ask how or why she said she didn't know.
While caramel is delicious as an addition to just about anything, the word can serve other purposes.

April 11, 2013: No Game
I woke up this morning assuming we would have a game today, despite the storms. Maybe I only hoped for the game not to be cancelled because I knew it had rained a great deal last night. We were just told at lunch, however, that there would be no game. This is slightly disappointing because I was so looking forward to it. After all, softball is my favorite sport and due to past weather conditions we haven't played many games.
However, we were not fortunate enough to have one. I suppose I could blame it on these crazy storms we've been experiencing here lately. I don't even understand why we are having such crazy storms that makes the weather all messed up.

April 10, 2013: Random Events
One day Tommy decided to work on his roof. It needed some repairs because, as he had recently discovered, it leaked. So on this sunny day he goes to his garage and pulls out his ladder and a hammer. He walks around to the front of his house, places his ladder, and climbs up it. Once at the top, he realizes he needs some nails so he goes back down to find some. Tommy finds his nails and returns to the top of the house. He begins work trying to fix the leaks. After some time, he wants a break so as he is walking back towards the ladder, he spots this random dog. It was a pretty dog, large in stature. Before Tommy makes it back to his ladder the dog comes bolting at it and knocks it clear to the ground. Despite the loud thud no one comes to Tommy's rescue. He stays up on the roof fixing the leaks. Once he has finished, there still has not been someone come to aid him. Tommy desperately waits for awhile but becomes bored. He ventures over to the edge of the roof to check out his gutters. He looks down and to his surprise, finds a comb laying in the gutter. He pulls it out but does not recognize it. He has no idea where it came from. Sitting there on the roof, he can't help but think about the random events that had occurred that day.

April 9, 2013: Sleep
One may wonder why I am writing a post about sleep. I am because I haven't gotten much sleep the past few nights what with my late nights and the days being so long. I write about sleep because that is what I would much rather be doing right now.
Sleep is important for all human beings. We cannot go without it because it rests our bodies and prepares us for the next day. Sleep makes everyone feel better and often one can tell when someone is sleep deprived. They are usually cranky and unpleasant to be around. I am not quite there yet but my eyelids feel heavy, especially after I have been up for awhile. I could easily fall asleep right here in class but I won't.

April 8, 2013: Beginning & End
The beginning of anything is always the start. The beginning can also be referred to as the exposition. When referring to literature it's when the story begins to tell what happens. It is usually when the characters and setting are developed. Often in Shakespeare, the beginning is when the reader gets to know the people and is usually the first act.
However the end is when everything is finished. It can also be called denouement. At the end of a story or really any literature, it is when all the problems have been solved and the reader knows what happened to the main character.
These are also two things that go hand-in-hand and cannot happen without the other because what begins must end. hey simply follow each other.

April 4, 2013: Lockers
Today is one of those days where I don't feel like thinking so my blog is going to be about lockers mainly because when I look out the door that's all I see.
They line the hallways all the way up and down. They are plain and ugly with their neutral tan color. Some work and some don't. Sometimes students must fight with them to get them to open. Inside is rather interesting looking. The empty ones are lucky because they are not crammed shut and junky. Most of the used ones are so full upon opening them papers fall to the floor. Some lockers are used specifically for junk. Those are the ones full of soda cans, water bottles, juice cups, and gum wrappers. The younger kids in junior high are often slamming them and being nosy with the lockers because they think it makes them cool.

April 3, 2013: Her First Kill
It was a fairly cool, fall day in a magical land where objects and animals all spoke like humans. The objects could move by their own will and proceed to do anything they wanted. They could establish their own buildings, of course they were toys as well. Therefore, Barbie lived in her big dream house with Ken but instead of living on a beach in Paradise Island, they lived in the middle of a wondrous forest.
Despite the cool weather, the Ken wanted to teach Barbie to hunt. It was something he liked a lot and thought it would be fun to teach her so they dressed in their camo pants and long sleeves and stepped out into their yard. Merely thirty feet away was an opening to the forest. Ken of course didn't want to take her immediately into the forest so they stood in their yard and he showed her how to shoot. It wasn't too hard to teach her this much, especially with his guidance. During a break, a burly beast stepped out of the forest ever so slightly into the clearing. Ken moved smoothly but quickly to the gun, armed himself, and prepared to shoot when up from behind came Barbie, already armed, and beat Ken to the kill. He was shocked but extremely happy for he had taught her how. It was her first kill, but surely not her last.

April 2, 2013: Sleet in APRIL
It is now April and we are still experiencing strange weather. In fact, we were supposed to have a softball game today. However, I am fairly certain that it will be cancelled because of the weather. Softball season means that it is supposed to be warm and pretty. Sometimes there is rain during the spring but never sleet. Winter weather is not welcome during the spring. I am so unhappy because I was looking forward to our game today but let's get back to the sleet.
We were sitting in class when all of a sudden we could tell that something was happening outside. A few kids got up to look out the window and stated that it was sleeting. It is rather unfortunate especially because it is APRIL. I cannot get over all of this bad weather.

April 1, 2013: Day vs. Night
For day and night to be so closely related they are totally different. One cannot be without the other because they follow each other through a continuous cycle. They are like two parts of a whole, salt and pepper, or two sides of the same coin. You get the idea. Anyways the point is they coexist and we have to have both to make up our 24-hour days.
Despite the close relationship of day and night, they are still quite different. Day is bright and lit with sunlight while night is dark. I would mention weather but that shifts depending on season and location as does the length of each. Daytime seems happier and positive while nighttime is creepy and ominous. At least that's how I feel most people, including myself, view them.
It seems with day and night that both must be present in order to have the other. It would be hard to imagine one without the other following for at least some period of time.

March 21, 2013: Too Cold for Sports
Today we are scheduled to play a softball game. We are nearing the end of March so the weather should be warming up like it does every year. Unfortunately, we are supposed to be receiving snow! That is unbelievable! It is currently 38 degrees outside and when I walked over to lunch a little bit ago my breath was visible when I exhaled.
At lunch, I saw our coach for baseball because we both have a game scheduled. He kindly said, "It's gonna be a cold one." I responded with "Yeah, I can see my breath outside therefore it's not softball season." However I have yet to hear the game is cancelled although I am hoping because it is extremely cold outside.

March 20, 2013: What an Outrage
On an extremely hot summer day, Taylor Swift was on her way to rehearsal for her performance that night. It was important because she needed the rehearsal to prepare for the kickoff of her new tour. After all, this night's performance was the first one of the tour and she really wanted to please her fans. Taylor was attempting to console her nerves and not paying much attention to the world around her when she came upon this massive truck. She had no idea what it was hauling and didn't care too much. However, she should have paid more attention because the truck was loaded with tarter sauce. The truck apparently was not well insulated because the heat had affected the storage of the tarter sauce. When she became closer to the truck she could tell it was leaking something but again did not know what. Just as she was driving by, the door to the truck burst open and tarter sauce came spewing out. It quickly found a spot in her convertible and all over herself. She quickly slammed on her brakes screaming at what an outrage this was. The entire scene was priceless and the media immediately started making stories. Needless to say she did not make it to her rehearsal.
This story is completely fictious and does not in any way represent reality.

March 19, 2013: Facebook
Facebook seems to be quite popular with today's society. Most people have a Facebook account and many depend on it. It is as if they are addicted. People constantly post everything they are doing as if it is their journal but what those people don't realize is that everything they post stays on the internet even if they delete it. These things can follow them for the rest of their lives. It may disappear for awhile but it will always come back. One day when someone wants a job, the employer could go online and research them. Old pictures from their Facebook account could pop up and they may not all be the best pictures of a prospective employee. Therefore, because they did not correctly use their Facebook, it could keep them from getting a job. Also, a lot of creepers/stalkers can get on Facebook and look up people. They could be anyone and are most likely not who they say they are. It could be potentially dangerous, especially to those naive people htat aren't aware of what could happen. In my personal opinion, Facebook is only good when people use it honestly and correctly but in today's world that is not common.

March 14, 2013: The Doctor's Office
The doctor's office is wonderful. I get to leave school in the middle of the day. My favorite time to leave is right before lunch because I miss my most dreaded class. Also, I miss lunch so I get to eat good food instead of the school food or whatever I can manage to bring for lunch.
Unlike most people, going to the doctor's office doesn't bother me. I actually like it because it makes me feel better. Like today, I was super excited because I had developed an extremely bad sinus infection. I got a shot and I feel much better. The doctor's office is great.

March 13, 2013: To Billy's Surprise
Billy was an ordinary guy who liked most "guy" things. He had blue eyes and a thick head of sandy blond hair. It was gorgeous hair, well kept and rather fluffy, much like that of a woman's. It should have been this way because he fixed his hair everyday and blow dried it after every shower. Billy was headed to pick up a new blow dryer in his vehicle after his favorite blow dryer had unfortunately broke. For some reason, unknown to him because he was preoccupied thinking about his new blow dryer, his car unexpectedly broke down, as well. It was definitely not his day. However, fortunately for him, right across the street from where he broke down than was a mechanic shop. He quickly walked over and asked to speak with the mechanic. Billy was astounded when a beautiful female walked out, shook his hand, and asked what the problem was. Billy blushed because he did not know and immediately felt inferior to this woman. She walked out to the car, wrench in hand, and easily fixed his vehicle with seemingly one twist. Billy went on about his day and bought his new hairdryer but he finally realized that there was more to life than his hairdryers.

March 12, 2013: Coca-Cola
Coke is an amazing soda. It tastes just right, not too sweet like Mountain Dew or too plain like Sprite. It is the only dark soda I will drink because it doesn't leave a weird after taste. I don't particularly like soda much anymore but when I do I usually get Coke especially if it is a fountain drink. It can sometimes taste a little funny out of a bottle, especially if it is old or hot. Hot sodas aren't good.
The red color of all things Coke are very attractive. It's bright and appealing to the eye. That is probably one of the many reasons they chose it. Also, you see the bright red emblem everywhere on cups and T-shirts and on billboards for advertisement. They do this because so many people like Coca-Cola

March 11, 2013: Ties vs. Bow Ties
Ties and bow ties are both worn around the neck but can be worn with different attire. Typically men are the ones who wear them. However, women sometimes do to make a certain outfit.
To me, ties seem more formal. I think they look nicer and they are actually my preference to see on people. They are usually worn with more formal clothing such as button-down shirts and khakis. Regular ties can be tied in so many different ways that can completely change the way the tie looks.
Bow ties on the otherhand are less formal in my opinion. They can be worn with less dressy clothing and it looks okay. Bow ties seem to be universal though because they can be worn with dressy clothing as well.

March 7, 2013: Beta Convention
I am going to attend Beta convention this weekend. I am super excited about it. I've been told it's super fun. Everyone that has went in the past always talks about what a great trip it was. I have never been before so I am greatly looking forward to it.
There is a lot to do. We are going earlier than the students usually do so we will be able to see everything. All of the performances and skits are said to be neat to watch. I'm eager to observe the abilities of the different groups that do performances. I'm not sure what other areas can be competed in but I know there are more categories.
Also, I get to spend an entire weekend in Branson which the school pays for. On Friday, we are going shopping too because we will have some time to kill before the first General Session tomorrow night. Then Saturday I'm not sure what to expect but Sunday will be an easy day because I believe we are just coming home.
The only bad thing I can foresee is the horrible five hour ride on a bus. Other than that small inconvenience this trip should be a great experience.

March 6, 2013: Unfortunate Timing
One day Tina decided to get her friends together and go down to the county fair. It had just come to town and she had been greatly looking forward to it. It was a rather beautiful day- the air was warm on her skin, the wind blew a gentle breeze and the air was fresh and clean. They went down to the fair and were greatly enjoying themselves when this large flock of pigeons mysteriously appeared. At first, the friends ignored their appearance but it became impossible when the birds flew closer to the ground and started squawking and making a great deal of noise. The group was still trying to enjoy their day when the most unexpected thing happened. One of the pigeons had relieved itself and it went straight into Tina's hair. She screamed and ran to the small, old building that housed the bathrooms. As she was cleaning her head, she caught wind of the smell and it sickened her. She turned around to the toilets in just enough time. She was absolutely disgusted. She managed to clean her hair although it was soaking wet when she returned to her friends. They left immediately.

March 5, 2013: A New Hairdo
Tomorrow I am going to go to have my hair done. I am super excited! It's a strange feeling though because I have no idea what I am getting done to it. I like a variety of shades that makes one's hair have dimensions and I also want a different style.
I have several different color schemes in mind but I'm not sure which one to go with. Also, for my style, I know I want something different but I'm not sure how different. I don't particularily like myself with short hair so I will probably stay long.
I may just go to the salon tomorrow and have my hairdresser do as she likes. She is awesome. She knows the best coors to put together and what colors look good on different people. She is a perfectionist so everything will turn out right.
I'm superexcited and cannot wait!

March 4, 2013: Yes or No
Which do you prefer- yes or no? This was the question awaiting us today upon arriving to class. My immediaate answer was it depends on the question. This seemed to be the general consensus of the class. I mean it is the answer that makes the most sense. How could one say they'd like to hear one answer but have no idea what the question is?
Frankly, I do not think one could. Of course if the question was something one wanted they would wish to hear yes. However what if the question was "Did you drop my phone in the puddle?" I think everyone can agree they would rather hear no.
So this brings me to my conclusion. One cannot decide which answer they prefer without a specific question but I do believe most people would probably pick the answer that brought them the most positive outcome.

March 1, 2013: Integrity
Integrity is defined as being honest and having strong moral principles according to Google dictionary. Based on this definition, integrity is a very important word and quality. It is quite rare in today's time that one can find someone who possesses the quality of integrity. Most people are unconcerned with this quality. They tend to look out more for themselves and try to have things their way regardless of the cost, whether lying or cheating.
Integrity is an important quality in a friend. No one wants the friend that lies. Most people also don't want anything to do with the person who would inflict harm just to gain something small. Nor would they want the person who is using them to get by. Integrity is quite important to those people who are actually looking for friends because the quality of integrity makes one a better person.

February 28, 2013: Softball
It is almost March which means spring is inevitably on its way. I am greatly looking forward to htis weather not only because it is a great deal warmer and pretty but because it means softball is about to start up. Softball is by far my favorite sport.
Our school team is about to get going. In fact, our first practice is supposed to be today but it is dreadfully cold. I wish the weather would hurry up and become nice and relatively warm with maybe a slight breeze. The weather is a key reason why I prefer to play in the summer than the spring.
I semily wonder if our team will actually last the whole season. I highly doubt it because we are a small area and softball is not a very prominent sport here. This would worry me if it wasn't for my ability to play with another team. I play with them in the summer and we have a lot of fun because we are all dedicated to the sport.

February 27, 2013: Happily Ever After
One day this family went for a walk in their nice little neighborhood. It was a summer day with the wind gently blowing. The weather seemed just right and they decided to take the new baby with them, to expose him to the scenes of outside. While walking, rather peacefully down the sidewalk, a large yellow lab came running out. The dog stopped itself just in front of the family and looked up expectantly. Its tail was wagging happily. The father stooped over to pet the animal affectionately, the mother still holding the child spoke admiringly towards the animal. They looked around to see if an owner was nearby but there was no one. The family decided to keep walking but the dog followed them. It seemed to be quite fascinated by the baby. Once the baby discovered the dog following them he was equally fascinated. The baby squirmed and wiggled trying to get down and finally the mother let him go. When he reached the ground the dog came quickly but not forcefully towards the child. He was not scared of the large animal before him and they quickly grew on each other. hte mother tried to pick the boy back up so they could continue their walk but he refused to go without the dog. They took the dog home and the boy and dog grew up together.
THE END.
THE END.

February 25, 2013: Watermelon & Bicycles
A watermelon and a bicycle would not seem to have anything in common. However, a little consideration might enlighten someone to think otherwise. Off the top of my head I could not think of anything after being given this topic. Now I have a few things in mind.
For one both a bicycle and watermelon are purchased. The public can openly buy either one of these. Also, they are both objects. Both objects provide pleasure. The bike allows for exercise and a hobby. The watermelon is a tasty treat.

February 22, 2013: Kindergarten
When thinking of the word kindergarten, often images of bright-colored toys and nap time comes to mind. It is the one grade where you are permitted to sleep during class without any punishment. Often when a person gets older, particularly in high school, they wish they could still nap in class without reprimand.
I wish to go back to this. These were some of the best times because life was simpler. One's parents made the decisions and took care of them and responded to a kindergartener's every need. Also, kindergarteners do not receive severe punishment for anything becasue "they do not know any better."
Life is much simpler for a kindergartener.

February 21, 2013: School Dismissal
Today is one of those days with some pretty ugly weather. It is supposed to be a winter storm that is hitting all across the Mid-West. Most of the places around us are receiving some pretty gruesome weather and their schools have already been cancelled. It seems that we are one of the few schools still in session.
We are all wishing to get that announcement that says we can go home. hopefully it will occur shortly because we discovered that it is sleeting outside. Also, we were informed that a test drive was about to occur to test the roads and hopefully after that we are able to leave. Since everyone around us is dismissed it seems as though we should be aloud to.
We did, on the bright side, receive a delay this morning but it would be great if we could miss the last hour or two of the day.

February 20, 2013: East vs. West
The East and the West are both cardinal directions. They both have coasts here in the United States that we refer to quite commonly. Also, they can both be used to tell where something is becasue they are directions.
One difference of the east and west is that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Another difference is "the west" can typically refer to the United States becasue we are commonly called "The Western World" in relation to the rest of the world. Europe and Asia can be referred to as "the Eastern World." This is true because the US is in the Western Hemisphere and Europe and Asia are in the Eastern Hemisphere.
I am pretty indifferent when it comes to the east and west.

February 19, 2013: Pretty Crafty
I have recently learned that I am pretty crafty, if I do say so myself. I am very much a perfectionist so it usually takes me awhile to create things but I enjoy making them. Last week was my sister's birthday and she is deeply in love with red high heels. Because of this passion I threw her a red high heel themed party. Her cake was homemade strawberry with classic buttercream frosting and a pretty red high heel on top. I also made a picture that had a red high heel for the background and had the phrase "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" written over it in a pretty and quite loopy font. I thought these things turned out rather well and was quite proud of them.
February 15, 2013: Fingernails
Fingernails. Everyone has them and knows what they are. They grow and break and can be painted , although this only typically happens if you are a girl. Some people enjoy long fingernails while others bite them before they can even grow.
Biting one's nails is quite disgusting in my opinion. It is unknown what all is underneath them. How spome people can do this astounds me because I have never experienced any compulsion to bite my nails.

February 14, 2013: Softball Uniforms
Well today I am writing this post as quickly as I can because I was running late to class due to a softball meeting. I am okay with being a little late to class for this meeting because our school team is going to receive new uniforms. For once, our school is actually going to purchase ou uniforms instead of making us do it ourselves. This is an unusual occurence here especially for the girls' sports. However, the school should have no problem buying our uniforms this year because they are exceptionally cheap. Altogether this uniform will cost, shorts and jersey top, around $25. If you know anything about uniforms then it is understood how cheap that is in today's world and we all like them. They are mostly polyester with a small percentage of spandex so they are stretchy and not skintight. It will be black shorts with a white top. I am extremely excited to receive these new uniforms!

February 13, 2013: Sally and Patricia
Sally is a teenage girl with black hair and dark eyes. She seems to have a dark ora about her. Sally is always wearing dark clothing and is rather quiet around people. She is not outgoing and normally found with her headphones in.
One day an inquiring girl, Patricia, walked up to ask what she was listening to, however Sally did not hear her and it seemed as though she was ignoring the presence of the expecctant girl. While Patricia was waiting for an answer she heard the music blaring out of the headphones. It was extremely loud and Patricia realized it was heavy metal music. So much time had passed and Sally had still not responded so Patricia walked away accepting her failed attempt but not before she noticed the bright pink nail polish Sally was wearing.
Quite an interesting way to combine finger nail polish with heavy metal music in a story.

February 12, 2013: Advertising Project
In my English 4 class we have a project due here in the next few days. This is unlike any other project I have completed but it is quite interesting and entertaining. The project, as given to us by our teacher, is an advertising project. Each group must pick a product and make a magazine ad, radio ad, and a TV commercial. At first this may sound hard but after a detailed breakdown of the project my group quickly thought of a product which just so happened to be a new movie.
We wanted it to be a comedy movie so we decided the plot would be for us to move in together and learn the freedoms and responsibilities of shared living. We had the best time filming the different "previews" for the TV commercial and we laughed the entire time. Altogether this was a great project filled with hilarious moments.

February 11, 2013: Left Hand vs. Right Hand
The right hand is so much better than the left hand! I am right hand dominant so of course I feel this way. My left hand is completely retarded lacking any skill to do anything. I use my right hand every day for everything and cannot use my left hand without my right. If I use my left hand for some reason without the accompaniment of the right hand, it takes severe concentration to recieve the same results as when using my right hand.
By looking at them, there is not much difference only they are the mirror image of each other. However, my right middle finger is crooked but all of my left fingers are straight. Both hands are roughly the same size and have the same feel.
Because I am right hand dominant, right hand beats left hand every time.

February 5, 2013: Sports
I attend a very small school. Think of the smallest school you can imagine and mine will still be smaller, most likely. We do have the basic Varsity sports- baseball and basketball for boys and volleyball, cheerleading, and softball for girls. This may sound like most smaller schools however mine has one problem.
A large problem for us is having enough people interested in each sport to play. The hardest sports to obtain enough people for are softball and baseball. This is true because they require the most people. It is quite frustrating when we come extremely close to having a team but one more is needed and almost no one is willing to be that one person. Every year we have had to beg someone to play in order to have a team and this year it was a close call. A team was almost not formed but as of right now we should be able to have one!

February 4, 2013: Sandals vs. Tennis Shoes
This seems like a pretty common debate, one I often make when dressing in the mornings. Being who I am, I tend to despise shoes atogether except on exceptionally cold winter mornings when I need a warm, furry shoe to keep my toes warm. With that in mind, I often pick the sandal. They are open to the air and do not cause one's feet to smell. Also they are easy to put on and take off, saving much time. Typically sandals do not require socks and are perfect for warm summer days and most casual activities.
However, tennis shoes can sometimes be necessary for certain activities. When I wish to exercise, work, or play sports I definitely want tennis shoes because they are easy to move in and prevent most injuries. Tennis shoes do need socks and often make one's feet smell.
I would prefer to be bare foot but I typically wear sandals but have tennis shoes for certain circumstances.

February 1, 2013: Salt Shakers
Salt shakers are useful so that salt is readily available whenever it is needed. There all different kinds of salt shakers from the simple platic ones to nicer glass ones and then finally the extremely fancy ones. Salt shakers are easily customized because they come in different animals and shapes and almost anything a person could want.
There is a trick with a salt shaker and a nickel where all the salt comes out and I imagine this would be quite hilarious to observe. I would also thinkk it would be funny to be the person who picked up the shaker when the salt comes out. I am sure there are other entertaining experiences with salt shakers.

January 30, 2013: An Interesting Thought
Barack Obama, the current president of our nation, was recently reelected for his second term. His job is exceedingly stressful and hard on him. One day under a mountain of stress, he seems loaded with thoughts and needs some guidance. George Washington comes to his mind. Washington, one of the founding fathers of our nation, was around in a time period much different than the one known to us today. He was also the first president of our nation and I would imagine he was stressed to the max trying to piece together a nation in the condition ours was in. Because Washington did have a successful term, he is an inspiration for Obama and serves as a good example/guide when needed. Obama was tranquilized after recalling the success of Washington's presidency and went back to work.

January 29, 2013: The School's Windows
These windows at our school are very old. I do not think they seal off properly because there is often a draft near them even when they are shut. They are not thick, actually quite thin. However,on the bright side they do at least open therefore they do serve their purpose, to an extent.
Today just so happens to be a rather windy day and the windows are definitely sticking out to me. When the wind blows, it can be heard through the windows that have air conditioner units. The wind is heard because the window is not sealed and it actually makes a loud distraction in most of my classes. This is annoying because I am listening to the wind and becoming annoyed instead of listening to the class which often aggravates my teachers.
FYI these windows are annoying and disruptive and I do not like them.

January 28, 2013: Apples & Oranges
Apples and oranges are both fruits that most people eat. They both have a skin, although the texture and thickness of the skin is different. The skin of an apple is thin and satiny with a smooth texture while an orange's skin is thick and smooth but with little holes.
Apples are red, green or yellow and oranges are orange. Oranges only come in one color. Apples have little "stands" on their bottom to help them sit perfectly on a counter whereas an orange is completely rounded. Apples have stems and oranges typically do not when they are purchased. Also, apples can either be peeled or eaten with the skin but oranges are normally peeled before consumption.
An apple doesn't have much flavor to me; red apples are kind of sweet but the skin makes it a little sour. However, yellow and green apples are quite tart with or without the peel. Oranges are sweet when they are ripe but can be a little sour if they were picked early.

January 25, 2013: Aglets
Our teacher announced today that we were to make a post about aglets. Now for those of you who don't know wat aglet are, they are the plastic end to a shoelace. Immediately after being told about this I thought of the Phineas and Ferb television show that dedicated a whole episode to educating people about aglets.
This episode is quite interesting because Phineas and Ferb spent an entire day wearing shoelaces tied around their fingers and telling random people about aglets. At the end of the show they performed a song strictly talking about aglets. It was quite catchy and I'm sure a ton of kids and possibly their parents now know what aglets are.

January 23, 2013: Movies vs. TV
Two common forms of popular entertainment, movies and TV shows are abundant in our culture. When watching either there is always the question which is better? I believe that movies are better. TV shows are short, usually about thirty minutes sometimes an hour, but some of that time is filled with commercials. TV shows always end on a cliff so that one will return to watch the next episode. Of course I do watch TV and have some shows that I greatly enjoy but I dislike the commercials.
However, movies are quite different. Movies develop their characters and tell a story over the course of two or so hours. I would much rather sit down and watch a movie and know the ending versus having to wait a week for another episode. Movies are definitely the way to go.

January 22, 2013: Bubble Gum!
Bubble gum! I love gum. I always want some after lunch, especially when I'm at school. That way I don't have to worry about what my breath smells like. I love the kind that makes ginormous bubbles. Sometimes I get in trouble by me teachers for popping my gum and blowing bubbles but I still like it. I also like the minty flavors such as spearmint or fresh mint. However, I think my all time favorite gum is the old fashioned pink bubble gum. It's traditional but it makes huge bubbles.
Getting and keeping gumat school is the hardest thing to do. One has to be extremely secretive because if anyone knows of the person having gum, then everyone will know. Then there is none left for tomorrow and everyone swarms the one person who has gum and it is awfully annoying if you're that person.

January 18, 2013: TIssues
Tissues, tissues, everyone has needed them at some point or another. They are helpful to have when one is sick and especially during allergy season which, if you're like me, can come at any time throughtout the year.
Tissues are extremely handy and thay have been made even more handy because they come in all different sizes. There are boxes of tissues that can be set on desks, counters, tables, etc. These boxes can be long and short or cubeshaped. There are also pocket size tissues that have easily-torn plastic around them for quick access.
Also, tissues have different textures and thicknesses depending on the manufacturer. I personally like the fluffy, soft ones but some people may prefer the paperlike ones.

January 21, 2013: Bob's Trip
Bob was an interesting man. He did a variety of things but one thing he had not attempted was to pilot an airplane. One day he decided he wanted to learn so he did just that. Bob found a person that would teach him and eventually he caught on. Now he has his own airplane that he flies everywhere.
One hot summer afternoon he decides to take a particularly longer trip than usual. He was all set and left rather quickly. After being in the air for a little while he realizes it is exceedingly warm so he turns on the air conditioner. It makes a weird noise and shuts off so he decides to go without.
A little time passed and he discovered that he was, in fact, drenched with sweat; it was extremely hot. It was so warm in the plane that he had to land it immediately. He didn't know exactly what was underneath him but he was sure he could find a place to land, after all it seemed to have been an emergency. Oddly enough, Bob landed his plane in an open area next door to a warehouse full of air conditioners and air conditioner parts.

January 17, 2013: Texting in Class
Is texting in class morally acceptable? Whether it is or not, most everyone can agree that they either have sent at least one message in class and if not, then they have most likely witnessed someone else do it. I think it is a safe assumption that most or even all students nowadays text in class.
Personally, I don't like when studdens text while the teacher is teaching; it is simply disrespectful. However, if it's at the end of class or if it is a free day or an emergency then I don't find it offensive. In fact, the idea that students aren't supposed to use their phones in class only makes them more desireable. Sometimes I think students text just to say they did and if it wasn't against the rules they probably wouldn't do it as often.
I'm sure teachers despise when their students text in class but I have found that several of them text during class. Countless times I have seen a teacher pull out there phone and respond to a text or have their phone go off in the middle of class. How is this any different than students texting in class? As long as students pay attention while the teacher is talking I don't see what the big deal is with texting while in class.

January 15, 2013: Pencil Sharpener
It is an odd-looking object. It has a rounded head but flat on one side with a small opening. From this head sticks out a short rod with a handle that is only big enough to pinch between one's thumb and index finger. Wooden sticks with lead inside are placed in the small opening, a sound is made, and when the stick is pulled out it is sharpened to a point.
Someone reading this may have figured out what I was talking about but to those who didn't I am describing a pencil sharpener. This may seem like a random object to be discussing, however, when I look up from my computer I see it sticking out from the wall. It is there because I am currently sitting at a computer in a classroom.

January 14, 2013: MSU vs. U of A
The first college I will be talking about is Missouri State University. I visited this college last year while accompaning my sister on her visit. I greatly enjoyed this visit because the guide was nice and enthusiastic about the college. She was trying to sell her college while giving substantial information. The campus was quite spread out and it seemed like a job to get from building to building depending on where a student's classes are located. However, I liked the dorms of MSU because they showed visitors the differnet types and personally I would want to live in the apartment type dorms that don't use a community bathroom. The dining areas were nice and easily accessed from most places.
Another college I have visited is the University of Arkansas. This was probably my favorite tour and it rained the entire time so that should say something. The people were friendly all around and answered any questions one might pose. They were also set on selling their college and I think they did a fantastic job. Because it was raining, one would think the tour of the campus would be dreadful; however I took it as an opportunity to observe the college life. I learned a lot about the campus and I thought the academic buildings were closer together. They also weren't very far from the dorms which was good for days when it's raining. There was a lot of history to the college, especially particular buildings. I could definitely see the different architectual stylesand I greatly enjoyed seeing them. The campus is absolutely beautiful. The dorms were not as nice as MSU's but I only saw one dorm while visiting. I saw the outside of several others but I cannot recall their setup. The dining areas were nice and I saw different restaurants on campus but the main focus on the tour was the different academic buildings a student might attend.
I think my choice is quite obvious. I thought U of A was great.

The dining areas were nice and I saw different restaurants on campus but the main focus on the tour was the different academic buildings a student might attend.
I think my choice is quite obvious. I thought U of A was great.

January 11, 2013: Sand
When our English teacher announced that we were to write today on sand, I think everyone responded with a confused look. After all, how much can one person say about sand? Well we are about to find out.
Sand, upon first thought, does not sound appealing. Sure, it is better than dirt or mud but it is still grimy. It leaves you feeling dirty and unhappy.
Sand could make a person think of their childhood, as it did me after more consideration. I thought of my childhood because I would spend a lot of time playing in a sand box with my sister. I remember fighting over the toys because that's what we would spend most of our time doing.
From a more general standpoint, sand made me think of beaches and oceans because that is a likely place to find it. I thought of walking barefoot through it and reaching the water's edge while a cool breeze blows. With that in mind sand doesn't seem so dirty but more pleasant. I like beaches and I suppose that means I like sand.
One from nearby might think of sandbags and the flood we had a few years ago. Many of our boys helped sandbag houses so they wouldn't flood. In which case, sand seems helpful and we were lucky to have the bags filled with sand. It saved many houses.
Many purposes for sand.

January 10, 2013: Hershey
Recently, I received or took in a puppy. Her name is Hershey and she is black and brown. Hershey is extremely cute and playful. She has the best personality and loves being around people. She doesn't like to be ignored when she wants attention or bothered when she is sleeping.
I acquired her because a stray dog appeared at my house. This dog we soon found out was a mom and she stuck around until she had her puppies. There were six puppies total, one black and brown, two black and white, and three yellowish tan.
We took four and put them in our fence becasue the mother couldn't possibly care for all of them. For some unknown reason, she thought she could and decided to break them out of our fence while we were gone. All of the puppies left except Hershey. Now she is my baby and she stays in the house with us. She doesn't run away when we let her out to use the bathroom and even if the mom is outside she comes back to our door.
Hershey is a special puppy and for whatever reason she has made our house her home. She cannot be lead astray.

January 9, 2013: An Interesting Experience
Tim is an easy-going, college student who wished to work a part-time job to help pay for his expenses. He decided he would go to work at a nearby department store. He got the job as the cart pusher; therefore, all he must do is retrieve the carts from outside and bring them inside.
At first, Tim finds this job easy enough because the work is not hard and he doesn't have to deal directly with customers which he likes. However, he soon discovers that although he is not speaking to the customers, their rudeness can still be felt. Most customers don't put their carts up where it is easy for workers like Tim to retrieve them. Since the customers don't put the carts up he must walk all over the parking lot gathering carts. After a while this irritates him because inside the store people complain when there aren't enough carts but they won't bother putting them up.
He tolerates this job and the customer's rude behavior for three months before becoming completely enraged. once he reached his breaking point he put in his two week notice and quit.
That was the end of Tim's work experience.

January 8, 2013: Stressful!
Today I wish to talk about something that has been causing me great stress for some time. This topic is our high school's Homecoming. I am a cheerleader and that means that I have to do quite a bit of preparing for this one night. All of this preparing has caused me stress and the stress only increases as the time comes closer.
We must do many things in preparation of Homecoming. One such thing is learning a new dance to be performed that night. This dance must be made, taught, and perfected. It may not sound like intensive work to some but those who have experienced it know it is never an easy feat.
Also we, as cheerleaders, must decorate the gym where our basketball game will be played and our homecoming court will be displayed. Again it may sound simple but it is a big gym and we go all out for our decorations. Besides that small detail, we usually aren't able to begin decorating until the night before wich gives us a limited amount of time to make sure everything is looking good.
Those who are selected to walk in the homecoming court must find dresses and be prepared for that as well and I was fortunate enough to be selected. So I did as tradition says and found my dress and shoes. I have made plans to have my hair done as well.
This may sound like a lot of unnecessary work to some people or even most for only one night but it is a great thing to be a part of and it is a wonderful feeling when everything comes together.

January 7, 2013: Circles vs. Squares
Circles and squares are very different. Personally, I find that circles are better than squares. They have no defined corners or points and they keep going on and on. This is neat because its as though the edge of a circle can go in circles forever.
Circles represent cycles and continuous motion. I think this stands out in a shape because every other shape has corners and comes to a point. Circles are often associated with The Circle of Life and can therefore be linked to every person and everything on the earth. It is astonishing that a simple shape can be linked to so many things.
Just some deeper thoughts on circles.

January 4, 2013: Chairs, Oh My!
Chairs come in many different shapes and sizes. There are tall and short chairs that accomodate a variety of needs for people. Some chairs are made comfortable while others are made sturdy or practical which affects the style of the chair. An example of this is some chairs are made of hard plastic whereas others have padding.
Another varied characteristic of chairs is their color. They come in all different colors from black to neon colors. Also chairs cover a wide range of needs; they are not only furniture or a place for someone to sit. Chairs serve as decoration by adding character or a bit of color to a room even when some chair styles are awkward.
